With PricePicker Pocket PC your price comparison shopping cannot be easier.
With PricePicker, you can instantly key in the prices of products advertised in newspapers, offered by internet merchants, or the stores that you shop at regularly.
How It Works
Imagine that you need to compare the prices between local grocery stores. Let's use a beer, Heineken Pilsener 33d, as an example. Please note that we don't give hints here on how to buy beer, just how to use PricePicker to figure out which beer is the best buy.
First, you need to create a product title. PricePicker provides two hierarchy levels of product description: Product and subcategories of that product. The program helps you keep different product groups in a compact format. In our example, we'll name the Product Beer and use Heineken Pilsener 33d as a Subcategory. It's obvious that under the Product Beer one can add several different kinds and brands of related products.
The next step is to add names of local grocery stores. In our example, you will see grocery stores near San Jose (CA):
Albertsons (grocery store)
(408) 297-3710
272 E Santa Clara St
San Jose, CA 95113
Dai Thanh Supermarket (grocery store)
(408) 287-3744
420 S 2nd St
San Jose, CA 95113
S & S Market (grocery store)
(408) 275-9650
502 S 10th St
San Jose, CA 95112
Shop & Save (grocery store)
(408) 286-4211
365 Bird Ave
San Jose, CA 95126
Zanottos Downtown Market (grocery store)
(408) 977-1333
40 S 2nd St
San Jose, CA 95113
Now we're ready to enter all the prices we collected. It is a straightforward, simple action. The prices should be entered for all five grocery stores.
As soon as all the prices for all the grocery stores are registered, we can (with a couple of taps on the Pocket PC screen) get a clear picture about the real state of market prices for Heineken Pilsener 33d.
To view prices, and then make your best buy decision, you need just tap on the "Views->Where To Buy" menu item, or tap the "Where To Buy" graphical button on the main view of PricePicker. The next step is to choose a product you are interested in from the product list, tap the button Next. You'll get a price list for the product. Compare prices, and make your best buy decision!
You Can Collect Your Prices On Your Desktop PC
This Pocket PC finance software allows you to export prices in a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file. CSV is just an ASCII text file where lines organized so each column value is separated by a comma from the next column value, and each row starts a new line. The export file will be saved on your Pocket PC (in a folder of your choice: Business or Personal) with the extension .csv that is reserved for a CSV file type. This file can be easily exported to your Desktop PC via the ActiveSync program or "manually" via Windows Explorer.
Navigating within PricePicker Pocket PC
PricePicker has on its main view four graphical buttons:
* Where To Buy
* Add New Price
* Shops
* Products
These buttons help you view and edit Price, Product, and Shop information. If PricePicker doesn't contain Prices, Products, and Shops information, these buttons won't work. For example, if you tap on the "Add New Price" button, then the following message appears: "First, add shops!"
At the very beginning you need to enter the Product and Shop information first.
PricePicker Pocket PC Help
Finally, you can get help at any time simply by tapping the Help command on the Start menu of your Pocket PC. When PricePicker appears on your Pocket PC screen, Help displays details and hints on how you can use this Pocket PC finance program.
