S.C. Out is a logic/puzzle game for Pocket PCs with Windows Mobile operating system. It is a Pocket PC port of an old DOS game called S.C. Out.
The goal of the game is to destroy the alien head on each level with a portable bomb using your advanced spaceship, while going through deadly mazes, solving sweating puzzles and avioding enemy creatures.
It has been toroughly tested on a Fujitsu Siemens Pocket LOOX 420, but it should run on any WM PPCs with at least a PXA255 200Mhz or equivalent ARM/XSCALE processor.
The original S.C. Out game was written by KALISTO, a French software company which does not exist anymore. The copyright status of the game is uncertain, but seems to be in a state which can be called "abandonware". This means this game has absolutely no support left, the company which created it "abandoned" the game or ceased to exist. Thus the PPC version is only the engine of the game rewritten from scratch, and can not be played by itself. It contains 3 test levels made in the original games editor so it can be tested. In order to play the original 101 levels of the game, You must have (or get) the original game and copy the LEVEL.DAT file from the original to the directory you installed the game on the PPC. The game can play any levels created with the original level editor. These APP_XXX.CIA file shoul be copied to the game directory as well.
To install the game simply extract the .zip file to a separate directory and start the scout.exe executable.
Update Description:
v0.9.74:
- Important bugfixes for explosions and the one-way gates. Level 34 is now passable.
v0.9.73:
- Changes: ability to redefine keys, graphics code speedup by 20%.
v0.9.70:
- Possible sound bug workaround release. Set the sound volume to 0 to turn off the sound system to avoid random lockups if they come up on Your system.
v0.9.69:
- Initial release. Known problems: there is one object in the game which does not work in the PPC version. It is a "save point", allowing you to restart the game at the point you entered this object if you die early. This does not effect the playability of the game, but it makes those levels that contains this object harder to accomplish.
