Modern devices are equipped with a light sensor that allows the device to adjust the brightness according to ambient light. This will require a significant amount of battery and do not always work correctly.
Adjust the brightness manually in Windows Mobile, however, is not a simple operation. You must navigate in the menus and tab and set the value to a small Slider.
