More random but handy software for PDAs |
|
There’s no shortage of mini-apps for your PDA, whether Windows or Palm OS. Here’s just another of a big bunch - but this one offers something that I always thought Pocket PCs were missing, task manager.
The program, called HandySwitcher (ahem) allows you to switch between running programs, close programs, and generally "manage the running tasks on your PocketPC with a simple tap." The full program only uses 75KB of memory, so it shouldn’t slow you down, which is good since its functions are designed to speed you up!
The X button can now close rather than minimise your application, allowing you to free up memory and processor power when you need it. You can customise the system so that if there are programs you want running constantly, it prevents you from accidently ending them when you click "close all".
It’s not hugely imaginative or even interesting, but if you use a Pocket PC regularly it’ll dawn on you just how useful this wee application could be. Any thoughts let me know...
