Mobile database development tool wins award |
|
Pocket PC magazine has once again given an annual "Best Software Award" in the database category to Syware's Visual CE Professional Edition rapid application development tool for Windows CE and Windows Mobile devices. This marks the third year in a row that Visual CE has won the award.
According to Syware, Visual CE allows mobile users to rapidly create feature-rich database applications that can be deployed on any Windows Mobile or Windows CE device. The tool is said to offer an intuitive, drag-and-drop interface that makes it easy to design, maintain, and run flexible forms and databases. The tool requires no programming to develop robust mobile applications, allowing applications to be implemented by in-house staff -- "the people who know their business best" -- the company says.
Last month, Syware released a major update to Visual CE that added a "wide range of new functionality" including a macro editor that guides non-programmers through the process of creating well-structured, well-documented macros.
The annual Pocket PC magazine Best Software awards honor companies that produce outstanding software, according to Syware. This year, over 80 Pocket PC experts from around the world judged almost 600 Windows Mobile products in 100 end-user and developer categories to determine finalists and winners.
Syware's president, Sy Danberg, expressed his appreciation for the award noting, "The only way we have been able to stay on top for this long is to continue to improve the product based on feedback from our large and diverse group of customers. They tell us what they need and we do everything we can to provide it."
A complete list of this year's Best Software Award winners can be found on Pocket PC magazine's website, here (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/awards/nominees_wandf_2006.asp).
