Classic Handheld Electronic Game Re-Creations |
|
Peter Hirschberg, as I have said many times on this site, is really one of the more prolific people I know in this hobby and frankly outside this hobby for that matter.
He always has loads of projects going on whether it's working on his to-die-for home game room, coding a Vertibird Simulator, or updating his on-line tribute to the Time Tunnel arcades, this guy is always moving.
His various websites take a while to navigate and I seem to find new things every time I tool around in there. Today it was this gem of a freeware package called "LEDHead." Peter has created software to allow us to play some of our favorite handheld LED display games on our PC, Palm, or Pocket PC.
I remember a guy on our bus in grade scholl who used to charge 25 cents a play on his football and driving game like the ones pictured above. He would then turn around and use his earnings to feed the arcade machines later in the day. Hmmmm, I wonder if I went to school with Peter and I don't realize it?
This actually makes me want to go out and score an old Pocket PC or color Palm Pilot just to use with this software!
There are currently eight games supported (list here) and you can download the appropriate software on Peter's LEDHead webpage at:
