Ordnance Survey Digital Mapping Now Available Online
Anquet is currently beta testing the UK's first user-selectable download system for Ordnance Survey digital mapping making it easier for thousands of walkers, cyclists and runners to select and own the mapping they require immediately.

Outdoor enthusiasts can select exactly the area and scale of Great Britain they'd like to own, and can download it straight to their PC.

Graham Hughes, Anquet's Managing Director: "Gone are the days when the only way to obtain detailed Ordnance Survey digital mapping was via a CD and DVD. Now you can immediately download it. No longer do customers have to work out which map in the product range suits their needs. They can now simply define the area they want, choose a map type and download it."

Digital mapping has become incredibly popular worldwide with applications such as Google Earth and Microsoft Virtual Earth, inspiring users to take virtual city tours. In addition to aerial photography, such as that used in Google Earth and Microsoft Virtual Earth, Anquet now makes it possible to download Ordnance Survey data direct to your PC in the UK's best and easiest to use application.

Unlike aerial photography, Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 scale Explorer mapping shows footpaths, field boundaries and contour lines, essential information for anyone planning a walk in the great outdoors.

Anquet lets you:

* Select exactly the area of Great Britain you'd like to download. Historically, outdoors enthusiasts have complained that Ordnance Survey mapping products were too restrictive. For example, you might need to purchase two Ordnance Survey maps to cover the area you're interested in. Now you can simply highlight any area of Great Britain that you want, and download it straight to your PC.
* Select the scale you need from a huge range of mapping e.g. Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 scale Explorer mapping; Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 scale Landranger mapping; Philips 1:100,000 Navigator road mapping; and High definition aerial photography.
* Take a virtual tour of your route before you go.
* Use your map on your PC, Pocket PC, or SmartPhone. The Anquet software includes the Anquet Virtual GPSTM which literally transforms a GPS enabled Pocket PC or Smartphone into an advanced GPS handset for the great outdoors. So rather than being able to simply relay its' current position, the basic mobile device can now provide live, on-screen navigation data. Essential information, such as seeing your current location on the map, and an arrow to indicate the bearing and distance to the next waypoint are all displayed.
* Share your routes via Email.
* Keep adding to your digital mapping library. All Anquet mapping seamlessly integrates together so you can add as much as you like, whenever you like!

The Anquet digital mapping software can be downloaded free at www.anquetmapserver.co.uk

Availability:
The new feature of Anquet version 6.0 is available from 22nd December 2006 as a free-to-download application. Users can then buy from a huge choice of digital mapping at competitive prices. Anquet is offering users unrestricted aerial photography across England, Wales and parts of Scotland free when they download the application.
