Wireless order taking for restaurants and bars
IDS Softwares (IDS), one of India's major product software companies and a market leader in the hospitality solutions market with over 1,000 installations across 20 countries, recently announced the launch of Fortune MobilePOS. MobilePOS is a product which enables stewards in a restaurant (or any other F&B outlet) to take an order from the guest electronically on a hand-held wireless PDA device.
Fortune MobilePOS would greatly reduce the hassles associated with the traditional way of order taking on paper and then travelling to the kitchen to place the order. The moment the order is saved on the hand-held device, it is transmitted wirelessly and printed at the kitchen(s) (which might be located at a distance).The key features of the product include; paperless, wireless, handheld order entry, multi-level item modifiers and multi-outlet handling. The product finds application in fine dining restaurants, discotheques, lounge bars, resorts, rooftop restaurants and any outlet where the kitchen is located at a distance.
Commenting on the new product Rajesh P Yadav, general manager - sales, IDS, said, "IDS has been a frontrunner in introducing technology to the hospitality industry for nearly two decades. Fortune MobilePOS will change the way orders are taken and executed in a restaurant by leveraging the technology and in the process eliminating the time-lag associated with traversing the distance to the kitchen to deliver the order. The new product could be integrated with Fortune R&B, and any of its PMS (Property Management Systems) like Fortune Enterprise, Fortune Express and Fortune Genie from the Fortune Suite of Software Solutions by IDS."
Fortune MobilePOS uses Wi-Fi technology and is compatible with MS Windows for mobile pocket PC platform and Microsoft Windows Terminal Services. The new product, besides enhancing the image of the restaurant, would also help the management in optimally utilising the steward's time to remain more focused in serving the guests rather than in mundane tasks as well as reduce F&B overheads involved with auditing of manual KOT system. Most importantly, Fortune MobilePOS by ensuring instantaneous and error-free transmission of orders would help restaurants increase guest satisfaction.
