RELEASED: fring launches Windows Mobile clients for Pocket PC and Smartphone |
|
Initially launched for Symbian S60 smartphones only, yesterday fring also released its Beta version for Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6 Pocket PCs and Smartphones. fring, a free mobile VoIP software, allows you to talk & IM via your handset's internet connection to other mobile phones and PC-based services such as Skype, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, SIP and Twitter, at no extra cost. It allows users to make free calls over mobile and cellular data networks or a WiFi connection. fring uses 3G over mobile phone networks and therefore provides a continuous call connection over WiFi, 3G and GPRS.
It is 100% free with no subscription costs; consumers simply pay for the data they use under their existing subscription agreement. Completely PC independent, fring requires no additional hardware and no location limitations (e.g. WiFi hotspots).Fring also offers the option of WiFi connectivity. It works over WiFi networks in the home, office or on the move. Users can identify the network they want to use, enter necessary security details and assign a profile.
Fring now launched a free Windows Mobile client which works on Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC and Smartphones as well as on Windows Mobile 6 Classis PDAs and Professional and Standard smartphones. To download it, you have to visit the fring home page and enter your MSISDN (mobile phone numer) and your E-Mail address. Within seconds you get a text message with a download link (around 350 KB).
