PC Pro Gives SCO Mobile HipCheck Five Stars for Ease of Use, Advanced Features and Value |

HipCheck Version 1.03 Applauded for Providing a Means of Alerting Support Staff of Major Problems - Even When the Failed Server is Not Able to Send Alerts.
The SCO Group, Inc. ("SCO"), a leading provider of UNIX(R) software technology and mobile services, today announced that PC Pro Magazine has awarded SCO Mobile HipCheck 1.0.3 five stars out of a possible six stars in all categories, including: ease of use, features, value for money, and overall rating.
HipCheck is specifically cited for its ability to provide two-way communication between the monitored server and the HipCheck server. By using HipCheck servers to monitor client servers and to send alerts to smart phones, HipCheck can notify support staff that a major problem has occurred, even when the problem server is unable to send out alerts.
Ian Parsons, product reviewer for PC Pro points out that, "Although servers have long been able to send alerts by email or SMS when they need attention, support staff still needed to gain access to them, either directly or via remote link to deal with the problem. HipCheck addresses these issues by using its own servers to monitor client servers and to send automatic SMS messages when required."
HipCheck establishes a two-way link between the mobile device and the servers, so that support staff can perform a wide range of corrective actions from the mobile device, including a command line facility that permits support staff to run a command remotely. Security is maintained by ensuring that only commands on an approved list can be executed in this fashion.
