A just-launched Web site, ReviewRoundup.com, aims to save consumers time and effort in their search for professional reviews of electronics and software.
Review Roundup, "Product Reviews from Publications You Trust," is shoppers' one-stop resource for reviews of consumer electronics ranging from notebook computers and gaming consoles to digital cameras and Bluetooth accessories. Software is also reviewed, including image editors, scanner software and video and sound editors.
The product reviews are summarized, with permission, from trusted major publications. In the space of just one paragraph, the summarized article highlights the professional reviewer's key points and follows up with a bottom-line list of "pros" and "cons." A link to the full review in its original format is included, if available.
"Review Roundup offers the abbreviated articles in partnership with the print and online publications that hold the copyright to them," explained Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "Shoppers can quickly get the gist of a professional review at ReviewRoundup.com, but may also choose to click through and read the in-depth article in its original context at the publication's Web site."
The publications from which the reviews are summarized include: VideoMaker Magazine, Smartphone & Pocket PC, Computing Unplugged and more. As of its May 2008 official launch, ReviewRoundup.com had summarized 475 product reviews. The reviews include electronics and software from companies such as Adobe, Apple, Canon and Sony.
"ReviewRoundup.com will be adding new review summaries all the time," Savetz said. "We believe shoppers shouldn't have to wade through dozens of reviews of questionable quality when all they want to do is make a sound purchasing decision."
ReviewRoundup.com was created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company that creates high-quality, content-driven web sites. The company's other sites include FreePrintable.net, which offers free printable business cards, stationery, award certificates, recipe cards and other useful printable items; FaxZero, which lets users send faxes from their PC; and Free After Rebate, a guide to free-after-rebate deals.
