DataViz Technologies has released a new version of its mobile office suite for Windows Mobile. "Documents To Go Premium Edition 3.0" now supports touchscreen devices, includes enhanced PDF support, and comes in a version optimized for high-resolution screens, according to the company.
Documents To Go made its debut as a Palm application, but was released for Windows Mobile in 2007. That first version, however, only supported devices without touchscreens -- an omission that Documents To Go Premium Edition 3.0 now corrects. The software supports Windows Mobile 6.x Professional devices, as well as touchscreen counterparts running Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition.
Documents To Go is touted as a complete package that lets users view, edit, and create Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on a mobile device. The program, which also allows viewing Adobe PDF files and zipping/unzipping files, comes with the following modules, according to the company:
* Word To Go (for editing documents)
* Sheet To Go (for spreadsheets)
* Slideshow To Go (for PowerPoint presentations)
* PDF To Go (for viewing PDF files)
* ZIP To Go (for manipulating ZIP files)
While Microsoft's own Office Mobile applications are licensed on many Windows Mobile builds, DataViz claims an edge with its "InTact" technology. If Word or Excel documents created on a desktop are subsequently edited with Word To Go or Sheet To Go, none of their complex formatting will be lost in the process, even if it is not displayed on the mobile device, the company says.
DataViz says Documents To Go supports password-protected Word and Excel files, permits creating and editing Excel charts, and lets users zip and send e-mail attachments. Premium Edition 3.0 now sports a rewritten PDF viewer with "dramatic speed improvements" and more accurate rendering, the company adds.
Finally, the program is now said to have explicit support for VGA-resolution devices, such as HTC's Touch Diamond or Touch Pro.
Further information
DataViz's Documents To Go Premium Edition 3.0 costs approximately $30, and is available now from the company's website, here. A version optimized for VGA resolution will be available "in the next couple of weeks," according to the company.
As well as running on Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 devices, the product is available on the Palm OS, BlackBerry, plus Symbian UIQ and S80 devices, according to DataViz.
